Meet Dr. Karolyn Kopcza

The Human Side

Dr. Kopcza grew up in the Poconos in Pennsylvania where she was really involved with dance and cheerleading — she dreamed of one day becoming a Radio City Rockette! Additionally, Dr. K played the violin and piano and was even a member of the National Guild Auditions for piano for several years. After receiving orthodontic treatment at 12 years old, Dr. Kopcza knew that outside of being a Rockette and living in NYC, she wanted to be an orthodontist. While Dr. K, never made her debut at the Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, she did live in New York City for 8 years and achieved her childhood dream of becoming an orthodontist!

Now Dr. K lives outside of the city and loves going to baseball games with her fiancé (Go Yankees!). Their goal is to go to every major league baseball stadium in the country together, and they’re off to a great start. When she’s not singing during the 7th Inning Stretch with 54,251 of her closest friends, you can catch Dr. Kopcza running, trying new restaurants, and at her favorite place, the beach.

The Medical Side

Dr. Kopcza graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and honors in Neuroscience from Lafayette College. While at Lafayette, she completed an honors thesis on the effect of the commercially available drug, acamprosate, on the effect of rapid and chronic alcohol tolerance on fruit flies! Dr. Kopcza received her DDS from the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where she was awarded the prestigious Department of Orthodontics Harry E. Kelsey Award, the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Commitment to Community Service, and the AAWD Smiles for Success Award. She also helped pilot the first dental school Smiles for Success program, which provides free dental care to disadvantaged women in job training programs. Dr. K continued her education with a 1-year General Practice Residency from North Shore University Hospital (Northwell Health) in Manhasset, NY, followed by a 3-year orthodontic residency at St. Barnabas Hospital. She received her certificate in orthodontics in 2015, and has accomplished a level of excellence that very few orthodontists have by becoming board certified.
